ACTIVATED CARBON APPLICATIONS
Drinking water treatment
There is evidence that vegetable carbon with activation characteristics was used by the Egyptians in 1550 AC, to treat drinking water.
Nowadays, the use of activated carbon in drinking water is divided into granular carbon (in a packed bed) or powdered carbon (added directly or in a bed).
Activated carbon removes the different impurities from water:
- Pesticides and herbicides (atrazine and simazine)
- Flavours and smells
- Free chlorine
